A coach takes a person of importance
from where they are to where they want or need to be.

About Tom Bendt

My journey through sports began as an athlete and then later morphed into coaching high school sports for more than two decades.  When I became an high school athletic director, I immersed myself in helping coaches build positive team cultures that emphasized character development.  I believe that everyone benefits from being coached and being coachable.

Leadership is challenging; collaborative leadership is even more challenging. Tom is a difference maker who has proven extremely successful in both. He brings out the best in people by being an exceptional teammate who is kind, thoughtful, introspective, wise, curious, and creative. He is a visionary and inspirational person with a passion for leadership and excellence. Tom is a man of strong personal conviction and honor who thinks, serves, and cares beyond himself.

People Who Inspire Me

As a longtime coach and athletic administrator, Tom understands, and has successfully demonstrated, leadership from multiple perspectives. As a lifelong learner with a thoughtful, inquisitive approach, he models his commitment to supporting the coaches he works with daily. Tom knows that to get better answers you must ask better questions, and this is where his expertise and enthusiasm for helping others along their leadership journey shines greatest.
— Peter Weber, Executive Director, Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA)
Tom is a tremendous resource for both coaches and athletic administrators focusing on the intentional awareness of connecting, expanding, and developing of the entire person while participating in youth athletics. He helps coaches by fostering positive communication skills, and broadening the spectrum of what they can teach, nurture, and model for their athletes, helping them develop into constructive members of society.
— Anna Maria Lopez, St. Mary’s Academy Athletic Director
